Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Tassa Energy.

The questions people actually ask us — switching, rates, Solar Club®, Discount Advantage Rates, billing and who to call when you need a hand.

Can I switch my electricity or natural gas retailer to Tassa?

Yep. Eligible Alberta customers can switch electricity, natural gas or both to Tassa. No new wires or pipes — your local utility keeps delivering the energy, while Tassa becomes your retailer.

Does switching to Tassa interrupt my energy service?

Nope. Switching retailers is paperwork, not construction. Your energy keeps flowing and your local utility still looks after the physical delivery system.

What are Discount Advantage Rates?

Discount Advantage Rates are lower rates when you provide the prudential — a refundable security deposit — yourself instead of Tassa covering it. Tassa pays 3% annual interest on your deposit, and you get it back when you leave, as long as your account's in good standing.

What is Solar Club®?

Solar Club® is an electricity option for eligible Alberta micro-generators. The current HI rate is 40.00¢/kWh and the LO rate is 5.45¢/kWh, allowing customers to align their electricity rate with periods when they are exporting more solar generation or importing more electricity.

How does RateSwitch™ work?

RateSwitch™ is an optional Solar Club® service that uses Pre-Bill Data to automatically switch between the Variable rate and the Solar Club® HI rate when beneficial. Customers can also manage Solar Club® rate changes themselves through My Account if they prefer to make their own switching decisions.

Can businesses sign up with Tassa?

Yes. Businesses using less than about 250,000 kWh per year can generally use Tassa’s published energy plans and online signup. Larger businesses should contact Tassa through the Business Energy page so their usage profile can be reviewed and a customized fixed rate approach can be discussed.
